Hey all,
'Bout time I said hello from Canada really. Trying to get used to the culture here - and generally failing. Not got into any car related punch-ups either - trying to keep my head down for a while. That and the Canadian cars look to be a bit better built!
Seems we are heading into Spring as the temperature has gone from -24 to +4 over 3 days.
Not got internet in my place yet - seems the Canadians are a little slow at sorting everything out. On a brighter note they all seem to celebrate St. Patrick's day. Combined with the 6-nations rugby means I'm in for a 14 hour (ish) drinking session - and then the Australian F1 starts!
Anyway, feel free to e-mail me (I won't respond cos I don't have internet access - but feel free to do it anyway).

But have they got PROPER Guiness, or just the stuff that's sold to people that don't know any better (i.e. Americans and other such foolish creatures)?

It ain't Irish Guinness. It also ain't American Guinness. And is probably the most expensive beer I have ever bought Dave.

I've heard of an African Guinness, exported from Nambia or Nigeria, it's stronger than the London brewed rubbish we used to get.

I guess you are referring to the Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (or perhaps Guinness Foreign Extra Stout Nigeria) which runs around 7.5%. Not seen any for sale - but if I do I'll try it!

Quite probably, it's taste rather good, but what's the advice they give you when travelling to African countries? Don't drink the water or some such?... What's the main ingredient in brewing?... Hmmm...

once brewed the alcohol in the beer kills the bacteria.
strange fact.
Europeans developed brewing to stop people dying from bad water. Hence we have drinking cultures.
In japan, they were a lot brighter than us, and realised that boiling the water had the same effect.
Thus Japanesse people can't take their drink !

But would you really want a themes water pint? And I hear the reason they put lime in beers like corona & sol wasn't originally because of flavour, but because the water was suspect for contamination with rat urine & the lime neutralised the danger/or the taste (the alcohol may have dealt with the danger)
