The following is IC knowledge you'd all have...
Chains of Command
Medius:
Very little is known IC about any command structure to the Medius. They appear to have older, higher ranked members who may be differed to on occasion but it is clear that ALL Medius are to be obeyed and to respect one and not another could prove costly. To defy a Medius is to defy the balance, hence reparations are often in order.
Atrum/Lumen
There are other positions in both Atrum and Lumen, however below are the only positions recognised by all sides. The Medius insist these positions remain to allow them to effectively work with either side and know who to speak to, if either side wish to create other positions to allow them to function more easily and to spread workload that is their decision, but these are often “jobs” rather than positions of power, and so often only respected within that side.
• Pack leader – The Leader of a small group of Kin, the leader is responsible for organising the Kin in his charge, pursuing goals and controlling behaviour of his Kin. He may well delegate jobs to some to aid in this if he wishes.
• Regional Leader – In England this is divided into South, Midlands and North of England. South is viewed the most prominent due to it having the capital so essentially has some power as a “national leader” though only unofficially.
• Continental leader.
• World leader? A myth really. Many kin believe that the continental leaders still report to the leaders of old who signed the original truce. But most just believe they hold a council between themselves to agree on world affairs.
The actual titles of the above may differ between sides, as will their systems of government including how decisions are made and how one rises through the ranks.
Medius Characters
Daedalus (Simon): Apparently taking his name from the ancient and famous Greek architect, many have speculated if he is in fact the same person, like all Medius his age and race remain unknown.
Daedalus is a calm and collected individual and regarded as the definitive voice of the Medius in Brighton. He allows conflict freely if conflict is what is to occur, though will rarely do anything to incite or intervene in it unless there is a question of balance.
His judgements are often viewed as the most sound of anyone and, as far as is possible, he seems to have established a warm “business relationship” with the leaders of the Lumen and Atrum, not an easy feat given neither side likes being told what to do.
He does however come off somewhat distant at times, as though he is burdened by secret knowledge of events yet to come.
Lapux (James S): The first of Daedalus’ two lieutenants. Lapux seems younger in spirit than Daedalus, though again no one knows for sure. He hints at points of a former life as a healer and has come under fire internally from the Medius for on occasion healing kin a bit too freely, when he does he is careful to heal both light and dark, or transfer injury between one side only, so as to keep the balance, but many in the Medius would rather he did nothing at all. Due to this interest in life Lapux often shows his emotions a little more than his other Medius counterparts.
Ikar (James R): Daedalus’ second lieutenant seems younger still than Lapux. He can come across a little more brash and arrogant and many believe he has only recently become a Medius, and that the knowledge and power has gone to his head a little.
Despite the brashness he’s been known to make sound decisions and judgements, though often the logic behind them may just seem a little less thought through and often chaotic.
The Lumen
Tibius: The European Lumen Leader, based in Rome. Little is known about him.
Kalyd (James S): Kalyd is one of the eldest known Fae around, and is the regional (South England) leader of the Lumen. Kalyd tends to be based in London where he conducts most of his operations.
He rose to power having been picked by the Tibius himself. Many people feel uneasy about him. It’s not that they distrust him as such but, like most fae, he has a sinister air about him and seems to keep many secrets.
However, to those in positions of power, his loyalty and dedication to the Lumen is beyond reproach.
Rumour has it Kalyd has almost found a way to travel between Arcadia and our world, and that it was promises from this research which led to his surprising promotion.
Zaccharia (Tim): “Zack” to his friends. Zack is a Lumen Celestial who’s been around for a couple of 100 years. He leads the Brighton based Lumen. Before this he was Kalyd’s right hand man and enforcer when Kalyd occupied the same post.
Zack is a compassionate and sympathetic leader in general but can turn quickly as he doesn’t take any nonsense. He runs a tight ship and as an enforcer was used to having to get tough with people, including his own, for the greater good. Now he is also sometimes burdened by the hard decisions he must also face. He has often been accused of being a little harsh in his belief that the ends justifies the means.
The Atrum
Nefius: The European Atrum leader, based in Prague.
Cadius: Cadius is the mysterious Atrum leader of the South. Like Kalyd he is based in London and only seen on matters of importance, usually for an Atrum to see him means they are in trouble.
Cadius has an air about him that makes everyone nervous, not least his own colleagues. He is well known to deal with incompetence and failings in a severe manner, part of his belief in “refining” the Atrum to ensure only it’s best members remain.
It is unclear what manner of creature he is however he seems physically younger than many say he is, so many believe he may be a non aging Kin such as a vampire. Others say he is something else entirely and that he has found a way to cheat death. However this may simply be propaganda and illusion.
A stern man he plays the game by the book, and is a master of finding loopholes in law and deed that will even stun the Medius into agreeing with him, and leave the Lumen wondering how they didn’t see it coming.
Adrian (Simon): Adrian is a werewolf, the muscle and raw strength to compliment Cadius’ powers. He has a strong ability to instil both fear and respect in those he leads and members of the Atrum will happily follow him into battle noting an almost omnipotent feeling which washes over them when they do.
Unlike many werewolves he is also a shrewd politician and understands the laws of the world quite clearly, though he’ll often appear with Ol’ Nick for some additional support and advice politically.
“Ol’ Nick” (James R): A mysterious spirit, rumours of his mortal life suggest he everything from being an occultist, a serial killer and even a priest.
He is the loyal advisor to Adrian. He seems to delight in offering advice and many have suggested this is what keeps him in the world. He is generally friendly to all. Though often reserved on talking about himself, he is always happy to listen.
The Enlightened
It is known by most Kin that there are some humans who are aware of them. This includes witnesses to Kin activity, human hunters and most worryingly the group known as The Enlightened.
The Enlightened are humans not only aware of Kin, but who actively find ways to develop their own powers. Reports, rumour and myth surround them and Kin claim to have seen them do any number of impossible feats. Many even claim to have seen them capture, torture and experiment on some Kin, for reasons which have not become clear.
Though the term Kin includes not just the common races but any number of other supernatural creatures, it does not include the Enlightened. For centuries all Kin have been told to give them a wide berth and not to interact with them. The same seems to have applied the other way around. And so both groups actively avoid each other in a very informal case of “don’t bother us and we won’t bother you.”
Efforts by Kin to try to find and befriend the Enlightened have led to failures and disappearances.
