What is even more won is the fact that the distance across the Atlantic from Europe to North America is more (near double) than from North America to Europe, WTF? (put in Paris to New York ie. vice versa)

Not trying to be picky (or annoying) bit NY - Paris is 3462mi (ocean bit) where as the other way around is 5572km. Same distance really.

It is odd.
if you put in London to New York, it suggest that you should first off drive to France, around France a bit, before swimming across the atlantic.
very strange.

I suppose you meant to swim towing your car with you, or do they expect you to have a car ready & waiting there for you?
Just another thought, would google be held liable for any mishaps occured in following the route they suggested?

Well it does take more fuel to go from Europe to North America because of the head wind. Whilst traveling from North America to Europe you have a tail wind and so you burn less fuel.

Whilst swimming, you'd have the engine running? If I were to swim it I'd want the gulf stream behind me, no point trying to go against the current.
